BREW®
With its nearly transparent execution environment based on industry
software standards, BREW®'s open architecture serves as a common
platform for newly developed wireless applications. Sitting lightly
"on top" of a phone's chip system software, the BREW platform has
access to chip-level features allowing it to download and run apps
directly on the phone. By dynamically allocating RAM for applications
as they are running and by using local storage and processing (client
and client/server), the BREW platform optimizes memory allocation.
This enables BREW's application management capabilities to handle
all local execution functions, as well as external network events.
In addition to supporting native applications written in C/C+ +,
the BREW platform supports applications written in other programming
languages such as Java and is compatible with existing OS and user-interface
software.
