Game Overview:
Welcome to the 2007 Dash for Cash contest presented by LOC-AID. The game was created and designed to allow event attendees to play a live, location-based game using their own personal cell phone. The game is divided into two events (Event #1 and Event #2) allowing for maximum player participation. Both games will consist of a series of clues that are associated with a given location. Event #1 will be the Qualifying Event and is played during the campaign. This Event determines the players for Event #2, the Grand Prize Event that will conclude the campaign. The winner of Event #2 will be awarded the $10,000 grand prize presented by LOC-AID.
Game Details:
Event #1: SMS-based trivia game
This game will consist of text messages (SMS) directing game players to various locations to answer trivia questions related to the venue. Some games will be presented as a single trivia question, others will be a series of questions. In the latter case, once a particular question is answered, the player is directed to the next location and presented with another question/answer sequence. Players accrue points by correctly answering the presented questions. Scoring of Event #1 will be based on an algorithm combining 1.) The number of points accrued from correct answers 2.) The total time to complete the game. Total time is defined from when a player enters the game via the text message to when the final answer is received. At regular intervals throughout the campaign, the highest score based on the above criteria will advance to Event #2, the Grand Prize Event.
Event #2-The Grand Prize Event
At the end of the Qualifying Event, there will be a predetermined number of finalists chosen using the scoring mechanism described above. These finalists will play Event #2 and will play the game on a LOC-AID supplied phone that has A-GPS capabilities. Players will be briefed before the start of Event #2 on how the game is played and will need to acknowledge and accept terms and conditions for Event #2. Once the game starts, players will be presented with a series of clues that will be based on a question and answer format. The game questions and location of the clue will be presented on the phone screen; the phone also verifies that the player has reached the correct location for the clue. Once the clue is presented and answered, the player is directed to the next location to which the player must go and the process is repeated. The game will consist of up to different questions and answers that will be presented to the game player at up to physically different locations. The scoring mechanism described above for Event #1 will be applied to Event #2.
Some games will conclude with a “riddle clue”; for these games, the following procedure applies. Once the player arrives at the location of the final clue, the following rules apply in order to play the last question of the game. Scenario #1-If the player arrives at the final location and is the first to physically complete the game and has all the correct answers, the player will then attempt to answer correctly the final question. If the player answers the final question correctly, the player will be provided a 4 digit code to open a lock box containing the grand prize. If the player does not answer any part of final question correctly, the player is eliminated from the game. Scenario #2-If a player should arrive at the final location first but does not have all of the previous questions answered correctly; this person will be eliminated from the game and will not have a chance to answer the final question. If this occurs, LOC-AID will go to the next person in line based on arrival time and the process repeats itself as described above. Scenario #3- If two players should happen to physically arrive exactly at the same time and they both answer the same number of questions correctly, the grand prize money shale be divided in half.
